Ronald D. Stetzel, former resident of Sun City, AZ, died on December 14, 2017 in Rochester, NY at the age of 97. He was born February 22, 1920 in Spirit Lake, IA.He served in the Eighth Air Force during World War II, and taught piano and musicology at Southeaster Louisiana University for 33 years. He was a past president of Louisiana Music Teachers Association and was a member of the Board of Music Teachers National Association.He and Mildred Alice Boyl, also a pianist, were married in 1947. They performed often as a two-piano team and traveled extensively. Upon retirement to Sun City in 1982, they continued performing as duo-pianists until her death in 1992.In Sun City, Ronald worked in various capacities, including president, with the Sun Cities Chamber Music Society, and with the Butterfield Musicales. He served for ten years as organist and choir director at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Ronald and Mary Ann Lawrence Woodworth, formerly an executive nurse on Long Island, NY, were married February 11, 1994. Ronald and Mary were avid travelers, reaching every continent, but Antarctic.Ill health forced Ronald and Mary to move to Rochester, NY in 2014.Ronald is preceded in death by his first wife Mildred Boyl, second wife Mary Ann Woodworth, his parents, brothers and a sister. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, and by his stepdaughter, Gayle Keating of Rochester, NY.
