Rocquie O\'Rourke

Rocquie O'Rourke, 72, passed away on September 24, 2017 in Surprise, Arizona after a courageous battle with cancer.Rocquie was born Martha Francis Strum in Springfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from Monson High School. After high school she attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she received a Bachelor of Arts in physical education and a Master of Arts in education. She was a teacher, who touched many student's lives.Rocquie was a born again Christian who was active in community outreach. She enjoyed tennis and played on many teams. Rocquie also treasured her furry friends and was a supporter of the ASPCA.Rocquie is survived by her daughters Leissa (Brian) Sharpe of The Woodlands, Texas and Lourra (Jeff) Barthuly of Eagle, Colorado; her grandchildren Dalton Barthuly, Sofie Sharpe, Alexis Barthuly, Chloe Sharpe and Hamilton Sharpe; and her sister Beth (Ron) Lippee and her sister-in-law Carol Strum, her nieces Julie Lippee, Jackie Berecz, Kimberly Baymiller and nephew Daniel Strum.Rocquie was preceded in death by her mother Gertrude Strum, her father Dudley Strum, and brother Dudley Strum.A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 30th, at Radiant Church 15522 W. Paradise Ln., Surprise, AZ 85374. The service followed by reception will begin at 1:00 P.M. Her daughters and grandchildren would like to welcome you.In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley.
