Two hospitals in the Sun Cities offer patients a different kind of service.
Robotic lung resection is completed with the guidance of a 3-dimensional and high-definition robotic system. According to Dr. Brett Broussard, Banner Health fellowship trained thoracic surgeon, robotic surgery has been around since the early 2000s and did not pick up steam in thoracic surgery until 2013.
He said robotic surgery offers more benefits, including smaller incisions, quicker recovery for patients and less trauma at incision sights due to how the robot moves around the patient’s body.
