Robert Watkins

Robert Watkins, 90, of Phoenix, AZ, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, Oct 12, 2017. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Watkins who preceded him in death in 2014. They were wed on March 29, 1974 and married for 40 years.Born in Crab Orchard, NE, Bob was the son of Mr. & Mrs. G.O. Watkins. He served in the Air Force before working in the accounting department for Mobil Oil for 38 years, retiring as the Purchasing Manager of the Mobil Oil Joliet Refinery in 1992.Bob loved traveling and he and Dorothy went on many cruises to see the world. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan, enjoyed golfing with his friends and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a 32nd degree Mason and Past Worshipful Master Mason. At the age of 88 he became a Stephens Minister. Bob enjoyed staying busy and keeping friendships with many of his neighborhood friends in AZ and IL where he previously lived.Survivors: Daughter, Paula Schilling of Washington, Step Daughter, Linda Kennington and her husband Bill of Pennsylvania and Michael Hansen and his wife Carol of Illinois and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Watkins and his son Jeff Watkins.Services: A memorial service will be celebrated on November 16, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Palm West Community Church, 13845 W. Stardust Blvd., Sun City West, AZ 85375.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to any organizations of choice.
