Robert Melford Munyon

Robert (Bob) Melford Munyon, was born December 19, 1928 to Constance Louise and Arthur Curtis Munyon in Downey, CA and passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 18, 2018 in Sun City West, AZ. His loving wife, Stephanie, and sons, James and Daniel, were by his side.Bob attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School and Compton College. His hobbies included photography (he worked for the L.A. Times as a sports photographer while in college); restoring old cars (mainly Model A's); music (he marched in the Rose Parade twice as a drummer and played the organ by ear) and especially traveling. Bob and Stephanie traveled all over the United States including a five month RV trip and multiple cruises to Alaska, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and the Panama Canal. In his retirement years he was a member of the Woodworkers Club; Metal Shop and Stained Glass Club in Sun City West.Bob started his law enforcement career as an officer with the Fresno Police Department and also served with the Downey Police Department. He was accepted into the California Association of Highway Patrolmen (Badge 3018) in 1960, retired twice on a back disability and served for 14-1/2 years. He was also a licensed General Contractor in California and Oregon; Real Estate Agent in California and Oregon; owned and built car washes; owned Texaco Gas Stations and established Homewood Tree Farm a Christmas tree farm in Estacada, OR.Bob leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 38 years, Stephanie; sons, James and Daniel and their wives, Jeanette and Barbara; nieces Annette Lovette, Lorraine Inman and Roxanne Moore and their families; two grandchildren, Ryan and Grant; Ryan's wife, Emily and great grandchildren, Henry, Margaret and Catherine; cousins; Ken Abrahams, Maureen Calvin, Elizabeth Ann Dillon, Linda Evans, Jeanne Fredericks and their families. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Rita Kriz; sister-in-law, Valerie Maxey and husband, Lyle; brother-in-law, Matthew Kriz and wife, Michelle and their children. His parents, Connie and Arthur; Uncle Edward Abrahams (from whom he inherited his sense of humor and love of practical jokes) and sister, Doris Moore predeceased him.Robert was a member of Palm West Community Church in Sun City West. He became a Mason at Masonic Lodge 6 in Fresno, CA and transferred to Lodge 802 in Yucca Valley when he moved to Southern California. There will be a Celebration of Bob's life on Saturday, April 14 at 10:00 A.M. at Palm West Community Church located at 13845 W.
