Robert C. Hanson

SUN CITY - Robert C. "Bob" Hanson passed away peacefully March 31st. Bob was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Kenilworth, Mont. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, DonaMae Hanson; his daughter, Judy Filkins and son-in-law, Terry Filkins; his son, Robert D. Hanson and daughter-in-law, Paula Brown-Hanson; his brothers, Ralph Hanson and Leroy Hanson; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bob started the West Side Appliance in Great Falls, Mon., in 1948. He became a self taught craftsman as a sideline to his business, installing appliances and doing plumbing, heating and electrical work. After selling his store, he went on to build houses and taught himself to do cabinetry work, brickwork and build fireplaces. He served in the Army in World War II and kept active in the Army reserves for most of his life, eventually retiring as a full Colonel. He loved hunting, fishing and tending his vegetable gardens. A memorial service is planned on April 16. at 10:30 a.m. at the Willowbrook United Methodist Church in Sun City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bob's name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
