Growing up in Dawson Springs she grew into a very loving and caring soul as well as a very determined person, which can be said of many Kentucky women in general. She and Harry were high school sweethearts and on August 23, 1939 they eloped to nearby Madisonville. From that day on they were a team as they proceeded to make a life for themselves and their three sons. Settling first in Phoenix, they moved to Yuma in 1950 then back to Phoenix in 1961 for the remainder of their lives. After retirement they crisscrossed the country many times, visiting family and collecting antiques, most often Kentucky country items. Although their lives were spent in the Southwest for the most part, Robbie and Harry never lost their deep and abiding love for Kentucky. One of Robbie's most treasured possessions late in life was her signed and inscribed photo of jockey Mike Smith winning the Belmont Stakes a few years ago. Robbie's and Harry's ashes will be scattered together at a future date.In Robbie's memory, please feel free to make a donation to your favorite local animal shelter.
