Rise Up! Glendale Coalition, a drug prevention outreach program, will join the 11th Annual Bowls of Hope Festival and Fundraiser in Surprise this week.
The mission of Rise Up! Glendale Coalition is to unite the West Valley’s biggest city to prevent substance use among youth while providing necessary life skills to empower kids to choose drug-free lives. The nonprofit will be one of more than 20 booths at the 11th Annual Bowls of Hope Festival and Fundraiser, which takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the WHAM Art Center, 15650 N. Dysart Road, in Surprise.
"Rise Up! Glendale Coalition provides a great service to the community," Connie Whitlock, WHAM executive director, shared in a press release. "They offer valuable information, education, and resources to the West Valley, focusing on supporting young people and their families.”
More than 500 one-of-a-kind food-safe glazed bowls will be available for sale in an open-air bazaar and art sale in front of the gallery. The price for each bowl ranges from $12 to $15.
Other art will also be available for sale.
Inside the gallery will be a display of curated pictures from the Arizona Professional Photographers Association.
Proceeds from the sale of the bowls will directly support local charities including St. Mary’s Food Bank and Eve’s Place Community Services, Homeless Youth Connection, StreetLight USA, All Faith Community Services and the Valley View Community Food Bank.
Rise Up! Glendale Coalition works with law enforcement, healthcare, education and various other community-based organizations and volunteers to reduce the demand for drugs.
