Rise of Asian restaurants reflects Valley desire for diverse dining

Valley diners are seeing a diversification of restaurant options with a growing number of popular Asian food options popping up in the East Valley and restaurateurs looking at opportunities across the Phoenix area.

Dining-out options are evolving with new cuisines, flavors and combinations being introduced in the region as a result of a changing population and an interest in novel foods among other factors.

The Maricopa Association of Governments reported in 2018 that the Phoenix metro population was roughly 4% Asian, where it continues to stand according to the latest U.S. Census data. However, despite being a minority in Valley-wide demographics, the popularity of Asian cuisine is seen in the growing demand for fares like sushi, boba and other Asian specialties.
