Rio Verde torn on solution to looming loss of key water source

Faced with losing one of its key water sources, a group of residents in Rio Verde in the East Valley want to form their own water district to search for new sources, while another group of residents is vehemently opposed to the water district.

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors pushed off a decision on the issue until May and said it could be pushed back further to give more times for both sides to meet and hopefully come to an amicable solution.

“Patience is what I ask. We cannot shoehorn any kind of solution here. We have to make sure all facts and all information is gathered,” said Supervisor Steve Chucri, who represents District 2 which contains Rio Verde during a Wednesday, April 21 board meeting.
