Rio Reimagined coalition announce ambassador position, discusses water solutions

Southwest Valley cities would benefit from planned Salt River revamp

Arizona city, state and federal officials associated with the Rio Reimagined project met Thursday in Tempe to update the public on the concept, announce federal funding for an ambassador and discuss water solutions for the vision.

Rio Reimagined is a concept pioneered by late U.S. Sen. John McCain. The vision entails a sprawling 58-mile revitalization of the Salt River.

The proposed Rio Reimagined project would stretch across the western Valley and bring a revitalized lake or recreational waterfront to six West Valley cities and two native American Reservations.
