Posted

Riggs won the girls title and Santan was the boys champion at the April 3 annual Chandler Unified School District elementary schools track meet.

All 32 CUSD elementary schools, which are located in Chandler, Gilbert, and Queen Creek, participated in the event, held at Perry High School.

The night began with a Fulton Elementary School sprinter winning the girls 100-meter sprint and concluded with a team from Galveston Elementary School capturing the coed division 4-by-400 relay.
In between, fans cheered on athletes, including those competing in various races and field events, such as the javelin and standing long jump.

Heats were held for adaptive students.

There were cheers from parents and teammates such as “You got this!” … “Keep up the great performance!” … “Let’s go, Sanborn!”

The annual event showcases the CUSD physical education programs and staff who trained their student-athletes for this annual event.

CUSD Superintendent Frank Narducci praised many people who were involved in preparation for the event and the spirit of camaraderie, which included cheering on not only teammates, but students from other schools.
