Riedmann: All this climate change talk is just a ‘farce’

Posted

The COP26 climate summit just ended. As usual, the super rich flew in on more than 400 private jets to mingle with thousands of bureaucrats so they could all tell us the world is doomed because of our “carbon footprints.” Give me a break.

Since the 1960s we have been constantly hectored with predictions of impending global catastrophe: silent spring, the population bomb, the coming ice age, peak oil, acid rain, the ozone hole, global warming, rising sea levels, the next great extinction, climate change, ocean acidification, the climate emergency.

Not one of these has been remotely accurate, yet the “experts” gravely warned us that they were all just a few years away.

Why aren’t we in a new ice age? Why aren’t island nations underwater? Why isn’t the Arctic Ocean ice-free during summer? These are not trivial questions. These and other catastrophes were supposed to have occurred by now. Why haven’t they?

Such predictions are based on junk science and are politically motivated. The proposed “solutions” to all of them are always the same: massive new government spending, enormous new regulations that put more restrictions on our lives and our liberty. That is, more power for the politicians, more poverty for the population.

Environmental alarmists have been 100% wrong in their predictions for more than 50 years. Now these same “experts” are demanding that we drastically change our energy production and our economy because the “climate emergency” is going to doom the Earth and kill us all. Baloney!

No one should listen to these charlatans. People should demand to know why all of their predictions have been so wrong. Why should we listen to more prophecies of doom?

There is no climate emergency, Earth is acting normally and “climate change” is a farce.
