SUN CITY - Richard E. Bondon was born Aug. 7, 1935 in Bronx NYC, NY. He came to Arizona in 1957 and was stationed at Williams AFB. Prior military service included the US Naval Reserve. Richard received his BS in Business in 1962 and MA in Criminal Justice in 1978 from ASU. He retired from the AZ Dept. of Correction holding positions of correctional counselor at the Arizona State Prison in Florence, parole officer and assistant parole office supervisor. He was a lifelong advocate of prison reform and authored the booklet "Bible Scriptures for the Christian Correctional Administrator and Employee" and a non-fiction titled "So You're Going to Prison". After retirement Richard worked several years for the City of Phoenix and helped manage one of their sports complexes. He was also past President of the Sun City Optimist Club and founder of the Sun City Auto Repair Savings Club (now defunct). He was a member of the Sun City Prides, a prior property inspector for the Sun City Lakeview Rec. Center, a past member of the Sun City Long-Range Planning Committee along with being President of the Sun City Roller Skating Club and President of the Latin American Dance Club. He also Chaired the Social Justice Prison Reform subcommittee sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Church in Surprise, AZ. He is survived by his longtime companion Beverly Sisler, son Douglas and his wife Dana of Cave Creek, AZ, daughter Stephanie and husband Keith Rowe, grandson Miles and granddaughter Addison all from El Dorado Hills, CA. Visitation will be held at Sunland Mortuary of Sun City at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 with the service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made in memory to the Sun City Library 16820 N. 99th Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351 and/or Chuck Colson's "Prison Fellowship" P.O.
