Retiree to retirees: Don’t clog the grocery aisles

Posted

When I was working, I vowed that when I retired I would never go in a grocery store after 5 p.m. on weekdays or at any time on the weekend. It was frustrating to stand in line behind all those retired people (mostly seniors) who were able to grocery shop during the day when the working class cannot.

Now that I am retired, I have kept my word and you will not find me buying groceries on the weekend or after 5 on weekdays. As we know, the Phoenix area population increases enormously during the winter months. Wouldn’t it be nice to show a bit of courtesy to the working class by going to the grocery store when they can’t.

Please, seniors and retired folks, shop during the day, stay home after 5 and do something fun on the weekends. There is so much to explore and do in our area, get out and play; don’t spend weekend time clogging the aisles in the grocery store! Be thoughtful, be kind.
