This is in response to the letter to the editor by Proud Patriot published in the Independent Oct.15. In the author’s response to Lisa Everett’s letter, which I did not read, he or she stated they appreciate the sentiment of her post, “Time to lower the temperature in politics.”
I’m a little confused; they say they appreciate her sentiment, then go on to blame our president, vice president and MAGA for the political violence. Isn’t that the kind of thing that creates more hatred and violence?
The author says they don’t recall hearing Democratic leaders say they hate their opponents. Do they live in the same country I do? Did they see rioting and destruction of property from Republicans after Charlie Kirk’s assassination such as we all saw after the George Floyd’s death?
Which is it? Does Proud Patriot want the temperature in politics to be turned down or more finger-pointing? They might need to pick a side before we all get dizzy.
