City experiences Valley-wide issue

For residents living near Grand Avenue in Peoria, the noise of revving engines and racing cars has become more common lately, leaving the streets at risk for pedestrians and lawful drivers, residents say.

Peoria resident Tom Bookhout said November brought out gatherings of muscle cars racing up and down Grand Avenue, starting at around 9 p.m. on certain nights.

He said they congregated at parking lots around 91st and Peoria avenues, particularly on Tuesday evenings, and raced into the night.
