Resident files new complaints against Gilbert council member

Hoppe accuses Torgeson of slandering her from dais

A Gilbert resident who filed an ethics complaint in July against two Gilbert Town Council members has filed two more this week, though she said she would have preferred not to do so.

But Maureen Hoppe said council members have ignored her emails and requests for just a meeting and an apology and that the town’s new ethics policy, which took effect Aug. 20, requires her to do so now if she is to get any action at all.

Hoppe has asked for an apology for Council Member Jim Torgeson’s comment from the dais Sept. 19 that he refuses “to get in the mud with a pig anymore” — a comment Hoppe said refers to her.
