The city of Phoenix has two finalist maps for new city council districts based on the 2020 census.
Each map would make minor changes to existing district boundaries. The districts could not remain the same because there was uneven population growth across the city and some districts need to grow while others shrink to ensure a mostly even population across districts.
The two final maps will go to a council vote, with the possibility of amendments, on Tuesday, Sept. 26. They will become official on Jan. 1, 2024, in time for next year’s elections. The maps can be viewed at PhoenixRedistricting.com.
