Report: TSMC to win $5 billion for AZ plant

TSMC is on the verge of winning more than $5 billion in federal funding, according to a March 8 Bloomberg News report.
The federal funding — which is not yet finalized— is to support TSMC's effort to make microchips in Arizona, the report stated.

TSMC is on the verge of winning more than $5 billion in federal funding, according to a March 8 Bloomberg News report.
The federal funding — which is not yet finalized— is to support TSMC's effort to make microchips in Arizona, the report stated.
It is "not yet clear whether TSMC will tap the loans and guarantees also on offer from the 2022 CHIPS and Science" Act, according to the report.
The report did not say exactly where the funds would be used.
On Friday afternoon, a TSMC Arizona spokeswoman didn't offer much in the way of clearing up questions regarding the report.
"We decline to comment," said Christine Dotts, TSMC Arizona's spokeswoman.
TSMC said in a statement that it “has been making steady progress in productive ongoing discussions with the U.S. government on incentive funding,” the report stated.
