Report: Scottsdale’s WestWorld bringing in large sums of tax revenue for the state

City financial records show venue still operating at a deficit

Scottsdale’s beloved WestWorld is a major economic engine for the state according to a recent report from ASU, but records shows the venue still costs the city millions more to operate annually than it brings in.

The report, which was paid for by the City of Scottsdale and conducted by ASU’s Seidman Research Institute, says the 384-acre venue has a unique ability to attract high-spending visitors.

Specifically, the report said WestWorld, home to shows like the Barrett-Jackson Auto Show and the Arabian Horse show, contributed $163.6 million to the state’s GDP in Fiscal Year 2023-24.
