Reilly: Veterans deserve 30 days of recognition too

Posted

As I write this letter to the editor, the date is June 6, 2023.

Seventy-nine years ago, on June 6, 1944, the military invasion of the beaches at Normandy, France was conducted by 156,000 Allied soldiers intent on destroying the Nazi war machine that had decimated and enslaved Europe. On that day, 4,000 Allied soldiers were killed. Many believed that D-Day was the beginning of the end for the Axis and World War II. The American military deaths during World War II were estimated at 407,000 troops. These American patriots gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and our American values.

America in 2023 celebrated one day for our American military heroes.

In June of 2023, some Americans will celebrate 30 days for LGBTQ-plus individuals. For the uninformed, the letters stand for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, queers, and the “plus” is used to signify all of the other gender identities and sexual orientations that are not specifically covered by the other five initials. The apparent goal here is to normalize what many consider to be aberrant sexual behavior.

Some local churches will be celebrating the LGBTQ-plus community in June and “affirming” the self-identification of individuals with these particular lifestyles. How many of these churches are actually declaring the gospel of Jesus Christ and following the word of God? With the LGBTQ-plus indoctrination campaign that is occurring in our public schools, and churches, one wonders, how long God will tolerate what is happening in America. Will America soon experience God’s wrath similar to Sodom and Gomorrah?

The science of biology has confirmed the truth that God’s human creation consists of two sexes — male and female. Affirmation by others of one’s self-proclaimed sexual identity does not change one’s biological sex from birth.

Veterans deserve 30 Days of recognition! America owes them a debt of gratitude.
