Registration is open now for youth flag football in Glendale.
The Glendale Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with the Arizona Cardinals for NFL Flag Football, which is one of the NFL’s largest organized non-contact football leagues.
This league is for boys and girls ages 7-12, and features two divisions — Peewee, ages 7-9 and Rookie, ages 10-12. Age categories are based on the child’s age as of Sept. 6, 2022.
The five-on-five flag football league teaches the fundamentals of offensive plays, defensive plays, rules and sportsmanship.
Registration is open through Sunday, Aug. 7. Practices begin Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Practice location, day(s), and time(s) are determined by the volunteer coach. Most practices are any day Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Games take place on Thursday evenings, Sept. 22-Nov. 10 and are played at Sahuaro Ranch Sports Complex, 9901 N. 63rd Ave. Game times are usually between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
Cost is $55 for Glendale residents, and $75 for non-residents. Participants receive a team shirt, up to eight games and a participation award.
