Regional transportation plan relies on voters approving sales tax in 2024, MAG official says

Prop 400 tax extension goes to voters next November

At long last, Maricopa County voters next year will be given the choice to extend the county’s half-cent transportation sales tax beyond its exportation date in 2025.

Maricopa Association of Governments Chief of Staff Audra Koester Thomas says the estimated $15 billion in transportation funding will be transformational for the region, and really, the county can’t do without it.

“Failure isn’t an option when it comes to this,” Koester Thomas told the Phoenix Transit Citizens Transportation Commission last week. However, she is confident voters will approve the ballot measure.
