Jack Hastings is the first to admit he’s not perfect at knowing what to recycle at his home.
Just like the rest of the community, the Surprise city councilmember for District 5 was learning what to recycle when the city of Surprise previously used the blue bins for recycling before suspending it three years ago.
”I didn’t know Saran Wrap couldn’t be recycled,” Hastings said. “Pizza boxes are cardboard, but it has food on it. I was probably recycling stuff that wasn’t recyclable, so I had to take a look at my own practice.”
