Recall effort against Peoria Unified school board members fails

Group did not file any signatures to oust Sandoval, Underhill

An effort to recall Peoria Unified School District board President David Sandoval and member Cory Underhill has failed.

Last May, a group of parents led by Wendy Van Wie, who has who has a daughter at Liberty High School, set in motion the process to recall the governing board members.

The campaign “failed to trigger,” which means a sufficient number of signatures was not submitted and the recall process did move forward, according to the Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools.
