Phoenix is the latest Valley city to install a StoryWalk exhibit at a public park, which combines exercise and reading for young children, displaying one page at a time of a children’s book on signs along a walking path.
The city of celebrated Cesar Chavez Day Wednesday by unveiling the city’s first StoryWalk display at Cesar Chavez Park, 7858 S. 35th Ave., that features a children’s book about the Arizona native and his fellow labor leader and civil rights activist, Dolores Huerta.
“(StoryWalk) brings a healthy, active approach to nurturing early literacy in young children,” said Phoenix Librarian Rita Hamilton.
