Reader wonders why Homeland Security needs to advertise

Posted

I need a little bit of help understanding “MAGA” logic. Why am I inundated with multiple advertisements during my evening news broadcast featuring Kristi Noem?

I don’t understand, during these times of budget cuts and DOGE telling us that we have to tighten our belts and “do without,” the logic of Noem on my screen touting the benefits of locking up all of the terrible criminals that the Department of Homeland Security has removed from our midst.

Never mind the fact that a recent “60 Minutes” investigation found that 75% of the men locked up during these much-publicized raids had no criminal record, either in the U.S. or abroad. These are the “worst of the worst?” Or are they just the only ones that this inept administration could manage to catch?

By waiting outside of the courtrooms for the government to mysteriously dismiss the immigration charges against these men so they could swoop in for a made-for-TV moment to show the American public what a great job they are doing, they only serve to testify to their own incompetence.

Since when does Homeland Security need to advertise? I don’t see other prison systems advertising. It appears the main job of anyone in this administration is to stoke the ego of their commander-in-chief by thanking him publicly! I sometimes find myself checking to make sure I’m not watching television in North Korea or Iran.
