As an Arizona native and Realtor, I understand just how difficult it can be for small businesses to provide quality health care coverage to their employees while keeping costs manageable.
Rising prescription drug prices set by big drug companies make these challenges tougher, but the pharmacy benefits employers and other health plan sponsors play an essential role in holding down costs. Pharmacy benefits enable employees — and hard-working Arizonans across the state — to access the medications they need to stay healthy at an affordable cost.
Despite the cost savings pharmacy benefits provide, some lawmakers are pushing for unnecessary government mandates that would restrict these benefits and drive health care costs even higher. When the government interferes in the private market for health care, it undermines the competition that helps keep prescription drugs affordable.
Fortunately, champions for affordable prescription drugs like state Rep. David Livingston of LD28 have pushed back on these harmful proposals and helped keep a lid on new government health mandates.
Thank you to Rep. Livingston for standing strong against misguided regulations, protecting pharmacy benefits and making sure small businesses like mine can continue to thrive.
