What it doesn’t say is that Advantage plans change, so seniors have to review them every year. Once you go to an Advantage plan, you are penalized if you want to go back to original Medicare with a supplement.
People I know on Medicare Advantage have issues when they travel out of state. They also have to find a new primary doctor every year or two, which is no easy feat with the shortage of doctors. Some have to wait months to see a specialist because of delays in preauthorization or no such specialist in the network.
In my opinion, the primary goal of Medicare Advantage companies is to maximize profit for stockholders by overbilling Medicare and denying care to patients. They wouldn’t spend so much money on advertising to lure patients in if it wasn't so profitable.
For some, especially those with limited income and those that don’t travel, Medicare Advantage with perks may be worth the issues. I'm happy with original Medicare and my supplement.
