Reader agrees pets don’t belong in drivers’ laps

Regarding Howard Fischer’s article, No lap dogs behind wheel on Arizona roads: Senate bill:

I absolutely support this. Unless injured in a condition where restraining could cause further damage, I don’t allow loose pets in my car and haven’t since around 2003.

Larger dogs get harnessed and buckled in with a pet-appropriate belt; smaller ones are in a carrier or a pet car basket with a harness and restraint.

Kids have no place bouncing from seat to seat, and neither do pets. It’s a safety issue regardless of the species, both for them and us!
