Reaction mixed on relaxed medical training rules

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs signed House Bill 2043 into law April 17 with little publicity. Not everyone’s happy about it.

The law, approved with bipartisan support, allows physician’s assistants with more than 8,000 hours to move to a collaborative system that doesn’t require a supervision agreement with a responsible, overseeing doctor.

PAs with fewer than 8,000 hours will still practice under a supervision agreement with a supervising doctor.
