Changes continue to happen around the Recreation Centers of Sun City West to improve facilities.
The pool at R.H. Johnson Recreation Center, 19803 N R.H. Johnson Blvd., and the metal shop, 13849 Camino del Sol, were a talking point around Sun City West. Jim Eager, Sun City West resident, posted to the association’s Facebook page asking specifically about cost and the materials used. The entire pool deck was not redone, however, some areas did need repair, according to Recreation Centers of Sun City West officials. Thirteen areas were selected, cleaned and prepped and topped with primer and new acrylic coating with color matching. The total cost of the project was $6,400. Several palm trees were dying and had to be removed and replacement was not a good option, according to Katy O’Grady, RCSCW general services officer.
“The well encasements were not big enough to support the trees, and expanding them is not an option given the pool plumbing in the area. Plus, the materials that fall off the trees aren’t good for the pool itself,” O’Grady explained.
