RCSCW initiates closures due to COVID-19

Health officials advisement as metrics turn red

Recreation Centers of Sun City West officials closed fitness centers and indoor pools in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Association leaders signed an attestation with the Arizona Department of Health Services with COVID-19 guidance related to business operations.

RCSCW General Services Officer Katy O’Grady said the attestation references implementing COVID-19 mitigation strategies and base capacity on three metrics, which are all currently red and operations should cease. While the metrics were in yellow, facilities could operate at 25% occupancy, require physical distancing, staff dedicated to sanitizing gyms, symptom screening and touchless check-in.
