One of Scottsdale’s most distinctive cultural destinations is entering an exciting new era. Ravenscroft, the Valley’s premier jazz performance venue, has named Angelo Versace as Artistic Director, serving in a contracted role, of its parent nonprofit, Music Serving the Word – a move that signals a dynamic evolution of its artistic vision and national presence.

A celebrated pianist, composer, and educator, Versace brings both creative credibility and forward-thinking leadership to the role. Currently serving as Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Arizona, he holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Performance and is widely recognized for shaping the next generation of jazz talent.

In this newly expanded role, Versace will help define and elevate the artistic direction of Music Serving the Word and its flagship venue, Ravenscroft. From curating standout performances to championing emerging artists, his influence will be felt across every note, collaboration, and experience presented on stage.

“Ravenscroft through Music Serving the Word represents a powerful intersection of artistry and purpose,” says Versace. “I’m honored to join an organization that is so deeply committed to using music as a means of connection, inspiration, and transformation. I look forward to helping further that mission through meaningful artistic collaboration and exceptional programming.”

Founded on the belief that music has the power to communicate truth, beauty, and hope, Ravenscroft continues to build on the legacy of its founder, Bob Ravenscroft. With Versace stepping into this leadership role, the organization is poised to expand its reach, deepen its cultural impact, and further solidify its place on the national jazz stage.

“Angelo’s appointment is an exciting moment for us,” says Ravenscroft CEO Kevin Youngblood. “Hebrings not only extraordinary musical expertise, but also a heart for education and a deep understanding of how music can impact lives. His leadership will help us continue to grow, strengthen our artistic voice, and expand our ability to reach people through the transformative power of music.”

As Ravenscroft continues to grow, this appointment marks a strategic investment in both artistic excellence and community connection, setting the tone for a bold new chapter that bridges performance, purpose, and innovation.

Located at 8445 E. Hartford Drive in Scottsdale, Ravenscroft is a 30,000-square-foot destination dedicated to immersive musical experiences. Its intimate 200-seat concert hall hosts internationally acclaimed jazz artists, while the Jazzbird lounge offers a vibrant, New York-inspired setting for rising talent.
