The Arizona Rattlers fell short in their home opener 54-48  against the Tucson Sugar Skulls and are now 1-2 on the season.

This is the second straight loss for the Rattlers; they haven't had back-to-back losses since 2018. After the loss, the Rattlers are 15-2 in their last 17 regular season games.

Their last loss at home eliminated them from the 2022 IFL Western Conference Championship. This is the second loss the Rattlers have suffered to the Sugar Skulls as the cross-state rivals' record against each other is now 8-2 favoring Arizona.

The Rattlers had a total of 279 yards in their 53 offensive plays during the game. Rattlers' rushing leaders were Jager Gardner who averaged 2.8 yds a run with a total of 19 yards and one touchdown. As well as Jamal Miles with a gain of 16 yards with an average of 5.3 yards a carry.

In QB Jorge Reyna's first start with the Rattlers, he threw for 242 yards and 6 TDs with one interception.

Isiah Scott was the leading touchdown scorer of the night with 4 touchdowns and 174 yards receiving. Miles and Braxton Haley each also contributed a touchdown.

Dillion Winfrey had a combined return total of 173 yards on both missed field goal and kick returns.

The Rattlers return to the Snake Pit on Saturday, April 15 as they take on the Duke City Gladiators (2-1).

Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m.
