Rate hike proposed for Surprise utilities customers

Council tackling rise in costs for water, wastewater

It could cost a little more to live in parts of Surprise later this year if proposed utility rate hikes pass through the Surprise City Council.

The Surprise City Council agreed Jan. 16 to a notice of intention to increase rates about $29 a month over five years for water, wastewater, solid waste and stormwater.

It would be the first hike in the last five years.
