R. Larry Hughes, passed away on October 19, 2018 in Sun City West, AZ, and survived by his wife Nancy.Larry was raised as a farm boy with four siblings in Southern OH. He graduated high school, as Valedictorian in 1955, joined the Navy and married his Childhood sweetheart, it was 62 years in December. Larry's family consists of two sons and two grandchildren.Larry was proud to have served his Country for 24 years, U.S. Navy, retiring as a Warrant Officer in 1979 which was a wonderful career and he loved every moment. Larry earned his college degree in 1980 with a BA in Finance. Larry retired to Arizona in 1983 and moved to Sun City West in 1990.Larry was a member of the Sun City West Prides for eight years, working Stardust Blvd., also a volunteer at the hospital doing various assignments. Larry was one of the original valet parking lot drivers finding it rewarding to be of assistance. In 2017 Larry started a new chapter in his life at Brookdale Trail Ridge. He would like to thank everyone for the hospitality shown to himself and his family.Larry will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
