Queen Creek’s police department ready to start rolling

Chief in place, two lieutenants almost on board

Queen Creek officially has a police department. The announcement was made at the most recent Queen Creek Town Council meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
“I was in the back literally appointing myself as the chief of police while we were sitting here,” said Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice. “So, we are completely done. We are fully, officially a police department. I am actually your chief, so yes, I’m glad to be able to say that finally. One thing we were talking about is the staff will be looking at trying to schedule for the next [town council] meeting an official swearing-in during ceremonial matters and we’ll work through the logistics so we’re COVID-19 responsible.”
In addition, Mr. Brice said he completed the majority of this year’s hiring with the exception of a few information technology positions. He told the town council it has taken Queen Creek six months to accomplish what usually takes two years in terms of developing a police department.
