A first-grade student in Queen Creek is one of the winners of the AZ529 art contest.
Arizona State Treasurer Kimberly Yee and the AZ529 program challenged students, grades K-sixth, to draw their dream jobs.
According to a press release, Alaina Grace Lambert, a first grader at Benjamin Franklin Elementary, was one of 14 winners out of 343 entries from around the state. Lambert would like to be a veterinarian.
The winners were honored at the State Capitol during a ceremony on March 28. Each winner was awarded a certificate and a giant check representing the $529 that will be put in an AZ529 Education Savings Plan account on their behalf.
Arizona’s Education Savings Plan is the state’s version of the savings plans permitted under IRS code section 529. These plans are designed to encourage individuals to save for future education expenses. The Office of the Arizona State Treasurer administers the program.
