Lovers of Chicago-style hot dogs and sandwiches in Queen Creek can rejoice – Portillo’s is holding its grand opening on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

The Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce reports in a Facebook post that will be holding a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the town’s first Portillo’s from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at 20745 E. Walnut Road.

Portillo’s announced in March that it was building a location in Queen Creek. The 7,800 square-foot eatery is designed in a Southwest garage theme.

The restaurant will have seating for 180 guests inside, as well as an outdoor patio with room for about 50 more people. In addition, it will have a double lane drive-thru, the company stated.

The Queen Creek location will be Portillo’s sixth in the Valley and seventh in the state. Portillo’s can also be found in Avondale, Glendale, Scottsdale, Tempe, Gilbert and Tucson.

Portillo’s specializes in Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef and pepper sandwiches. According to the company, the chain was founded in 1963 by Dick Portillo as a small trailer in Villa Park, Illinois. There are now 70 Portillo’s in several states.
