Queen Creek police officers shoot, kill hit-and-run suspect

Ironwood Crossing neighborhood advised to shelter in place Tuesday night

Queen Creek police officers shot and killed a man who crashed a vehicle Tuesday before fleeing into a neighborhood where residents reporting seeing the suspect with a gun, police said.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office arrived about 5 p.m. Feb. 10 to the 41000 block of North Rattlesnake Road after a vehicle was left abandoned following a crash. Deputies learned the driver fled and asked Queen Creek police for assistance.

Officers began a search and found a man matching the suspect’s description in the 1200 block of West Queen Creek Road. When officers attempted to make contact, the suspect fled on foot into the Ironwood Crossing neighborhood, where residents were asked to remain indoors during the search, police said.
