Queen Creek Police hit the streets Jan. 11

At the stroke of midnight on Jan. 11, the new Queen Creek Police Department will officially hit the streets.

The Queen Creek Police Department has been about two years in the making and replaces the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office as the town’s law enforcement agency.

“We are working with MCSO to make sure that the transition is smooth,” said Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice. “Basically, at midnight on Jan. 11, they'll stop taking calls and we will take over. From then on it'll be the Queen Creek Police Department as the primary law enforcement agency for the town. MCSO will still be responsible for unincorporated areas in Maricopa County.”
