Queen Creek kids shine in Constitution contest

The top winners of the town’s Constitution Week Art & Essay Contest have been recognized by the Queen Creek Town Council.

The six youngsters met with council members at their Sept. 6 meeting. During August, the town invited local kids to submit artwork and essays about the benefits of the U.S. Constitution, a press release stated. The contest recognizes Constitution Week on Sept. 17–23. 

The Downtown Arts & Placemaking Subcommittee selected the following winners: 

Mayor for a Day, Artwork

1st Place - Nili L. 

2nd Place - Claire D. (not in the photo)

3rd Place - Effie L. 

Mayor for a Day, Essay

1st Place - Keith P. 

2nd Place - Alex W. 

Benefits of the Constitution, Artwork

1st Place - Jacob B. 

The winning entries will be displayed at the QC Community Concert and Founders’ Day.

The QC Community Concert in honor of Constitution Week takes place at 6 p.m., Saturday at the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road.

The free concert will include high school bands from throughout Queen Creek coming together in song, the release stated. The winning entries will be displayed in the lobby.

The winning projects will also be on display at Queen Creek’s Founders’ Day from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16 at Founders’ Park, 22407 S. Ellsworth Road. The entries will be displayed at the town’s booth, according to the release.
