The Queen Creek Town Council honored late Mayor Gail Barney, outgoing Council Member Emilena Turley and Town Manager John Kross during a special presentation at the council’s Wednesday, Dec. 21 meeting.
Barney and Turley did not seek re-election, with their terms ending in January 2023. Barney died in June. Kross recently announced his retirement, which will be effective Jan. 20.
“We have the opportunity to recognize and reflect upon the service of three individuals who have made really long-lasting contributions to our town: the late Mayor Gail Barney, Council Member Emilena Turley and our Town Manager John Kross,” Queen Creek Vice Mayor Jeff Brown said at the meeting. “As you know, our great Mayor Gail Barney passed away earlier this year and his great presence up here on the dais has been missed.”
