East Valley town grapples with creating affordable housing

Like most Valley cities and towns, Queen Creek is grappling with finding ways to bring in more affordable housing.

“The folks most affected by the lack of affordable housing are median wage-earning families such as teachers, police, firefighters, service workers, construction workers, etc.” said Queen Creek Town Council Member Robing Benning, who is also an architect. “While the average household income in Queen Creek is fairly high compared to the rest of the Phoenix metro, a large number of the folks who work here cannot afford to live here.”
