Queen Creek Council sets rules for maintaining medians

The town of Queen Creek has decided which entities are responsible for keeping medians clean.

Previously, the requirement to install median landscaping and provide ongoing maintenance was a condition of zoning approval and a condition of subdivision plats. Developers would agree to maintain the medians, with some later moving the responsibility onto HOAs.

At its Oct. 19 meeting, the Queen Creek Town Council approved amending a zoning ordinance “to clearly outline (and codify) the responsibility of installation and maintenance and provide clear authority for the town to clean up and assess fees for this cleanup work if landscaping presents a safety hazard and/or is not properly maintained,” said Constance Halonen-Wilson, the town’s communications & marketing manager.
