A quadplex is being added to a vacant infill parcel west of downtown Phoenix.
The developer received preliminary site plan approval from the city on Tuesday for the project on the 6,500-square-foot property at 2833 W. Melvin St.
The property once had a single-story, 836-square-foot house on it that was built in 1936, according to online listings. However, both the house and the adjacent shed fell into disrepair in recent years. The boarded-up and abandoned house was demolished sometime between October 2023 and October 2024, according to aerial photographs from the Maricopa County Assessor website. The shed had been demolished three years earlier.
