Queen Creek Unified receives $100K in FEMA money

Funds are part of continuing CARES Act efforts

The Queen Creek Unified School District has been awarded more than $100,000 in Federal Emergency Management Agency grants as part of a reimbursement program intended to help communities in recouping disaster-related costs.

The money will go toward reimbursing QCUSD for districtwide projects related to COVID-19.

District staff worked with FEMA and the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs to apply for the grants. The money comes from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act passed by Congress to help individuals and businesses.  In March, the state received $4 billion from the more than $2 trillion authorized by Congress for CARES.
