Another dangerous Tik Tok challenge has been popping up around the country, including in Queen Creek.
In a Facebook post, the Queen Creek Police Department warns teens not to take part in what is being called the "Orbeez Challenge."
Orbeez is the name of a collection of small, colorful, water-absorbing beads that the manufacturer, Spinmaster, states kids can use as stress balls, fidget toys and learning tools.
But the Tik Tok Orbeez Challenge involves freezing the balls and loading them into air-soft type guns and firing them at people and vehicles. QCPD has responded to a dozen incidents since January.
Nichole Brown Fink commented on the Facebook post saying, “My kids and I almost got shot a few weeks ago at the Queen Creek Market Place by some boys that were participating in this challenge!”
Police warn this prank can be dangerous and result in felony charges. In addition, the toy guns could also be perceived as a real weapon, especially in the dark.
Police are asking parents to talk to their children “about the consequences of participating in this dangerous social media trend.”
